About the Role

Few of the responsibilities for this position are:

 

Planning and coordinating the shipping and delivery process:

 

  • This includes managing inbound and outbound shipments, selecting shipping carriers, negotiating rates, scheduling deliveries, generating delivery notes and ensuring accurate and timely order fulfilment.

 

Optimising warehouse operations:

 

  • Managing inventory levels*, implementing storage and picking systems, overseeing warehouse staff, and maintaining safety and security procedures.

 

Budgeting and cost control:

 

  • Monitoring transportation and warehousing costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction, and implementing cost-saving measures.


Technology utilisation*:

 

  • Sourcing and using logistics software and systems to track shipments, manage inventory, and generate reports.*

 

  • Remaining current with the latest logistics technologies and implementing them to improve efficiency.

 

Customer service:

 

  • Communicating effectively with customers regarding order status, delivery times, and any issues that may arise. Resolving customer complaints and ensuring their satisfaction.

 

  • Building strong relationships: Fostering relationships with suppliers, carriers, and other stakeholders in the supply chain.

 

Data analysis and reporting:


  • Analysing shipping and inventory data to identify trends, track performance, and make informed decisions about logistics operations.

 

Project management:


  • Leading and managing logistics-related projects, such as warehouse expansions or software implementations.

* - For these tasks you will be working alonside your line manager 

Requirements

Key Qualifications required for this position:


  • Logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred).

  • Minimum 2-3 years of experience in logistics management, ideally from a small/medium growing business environment.

  • Strong understanding of logistics principles, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management, and customer service.

  • Proven ability to manage budgets, track costs, and identify opportunities for cost reduction.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and logistics software.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Adaptability and ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.


Additional Skills (desired):


  • Experience with Six Sigma or other lean manufacturing methodologies.

  • Forklift operator certification.

  • Knowledge of international shipping regulations.
